What Is Juicing?
Really, all it means is drinking your food. You place your different fruit or vegetables in a juicing machine to extract the juices from them. All the pulp is separated and you have only juice. The pulp is then discarded as all of the nutrients have been extracted.

Juicing Equipment – Masticating and Centrifugal
There are essentially two different types of juicers on the market; centrifugal and masticating. Centrifugal juicers rely on a chopping process while spinning out the liquid at high speeds whereas masticating juicers use a grinding method that slowly extracts the liquid.
These types of juicers generally have less parts and are easier to clean. They work by having blades that spin at a very high rpm that force the liquid through a fine mesh. The pulp is generally wet with some waste. Centrifugal juicers tend to leave juice oxidized so your juice will be have more foam than with a masticating juicer. This also means your juice has a very minimal storage time and must be consumed immediately.
These juicers are great for hard vegetables like carrots and fruit like oranges and generally do not juice leafy greens, such as Kale. You should consider what types of vegetables you love and are interested in adding to your juices before purchasing.
The biggest advantages with centrifugal juicers is that they have a wider mouth so you have less cutting of vegetables and they make juice quickly. So if your main objective is to make your juice as fast as possible then this is the juicer for you. The other advantage to this type of juicer is cost. You can purchase one for less than a 100 dollars.
A masticating juicer runs at a slow speed where your vegetables are pushed through a small mouth and where an auger extracts the liquid. The pulp is separated and forced out the end. The pulp from a masticating juicer is very dry with less waste than a centrifugal. Also, because it does not run at a high speed, the juice is not as oxidized and has a longer life. So not only will you get more juice but you will get more nutritious juice.
These juicers are far more efficient for leafy greens but you will have to spend more time making your juice. The small mouth and the slower speed means that you will not get juice in seconds like with a centrifugal juicer. So if you don’t mind spending a bit more time in the kitchen and want more leafy greens in your juice, this is the juicer for you. These juicers generally tend to cost more but usually come with a much better warranty.
Either way, juicing at home can have great nutritional benefits. If you want to kick up your intake of vegetables a juicer is absolutely the way to go.
